Retired New Jersey Victim-Witness Coordinator Joins PROTECTION FROM ABUSE

PHILADELPHIA – May 5, 2018 – Cumberland County New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office Victim-Witness Coordinator Rita Carr-Volpe, who recently retired from her long and distinguished service to the Prosecutor’s office, has joined Protection From Abuse’s Council of Experts. The Council is responsible for guiding the non-profit’s programs and services among other duties and contributions.

Ms. Carr-Volpe joined the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office in 1996 after 19 years prior experience with the Cumberland County Superior Courts. During her tenure at the Prosecutor’s office, Ms. Carr-Volpe passionately supervised a team of victim advocates and support staff providing a wide variety of services and referrals to victims and witnesses of all types of indictable crimes.

“The addition of Ms. Carr-Volpe to our Council of Experts significantly strengthens the organization’s pool of expertise on the victim advocacy continuum,” said Chief Executive Officer Steven Dana. “Rita is a passionate advocate for victim’s rights and I am delighted we will have her considerable expertise guiding our programs and services into the future,” Mr. Dana continued.

In addition to her service to Cumberland County, Ms. Carr-Volpe worked at the New Jersey Family Assistance Center serving the victims and next-of-kin affected by the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In addition, Ms. Carr-Volpe still serves as Chairperson to the New Jersey’s Victims’ of Crime Compensation Review Board where she was appointed by the Governor.

“I am very pleased to be joining a distinguished Council under the direction of CEO Steven Dana. Together, we will strive to offer victims of domestic violence and violent crime alternatives to live their life without fear and intimidation, and restoring their self-worth and dignity,” said Ms. Volpe-Carr.
