Pastor Ralph Graves Jr. Joins Protection From Abuse

Protection From Abuse Launches House of Worship Domestic Violence Project

PHILADELPHIA – July 6, 2017 – Protection From Abuse announced today that Pastor Ralph Graves, Jr. will be joining the non-profit to lead its House of Worship Domestic Violence project. Pastor Graves is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Millville, NJ.

“After having interviewed too many at-risk victims of domestic violence who were encouraged by their religious leader to stay in dangerously abusive relationships, I knew we had an opportunity to educate and partner with religious institutions to potentially save lives,” said Steven Dana, CEO of Protection From Abuse. “Often, at-risk victims turn to their house of worship for assistance and advice. It is therefore critical that these institutions be educated to recognize dangerously abusive situations and respond appropriately. Under the guidance and leadership of Pastor Ralph Graves Jr., I am confident Our House of Worship project will accomplish that goal.”

Ralph Graves is a Motivational Speaker, Business Consultant, and Author. He is the Founder and Vice President of City’s Hope Community Development Corporation and Founder of Project U. He is also a member of the National Speakers Association, National and Philadelphia chapters.

“I am happy to be a part of such a notable and noble organization. As a Pastor of a Christian Church and Motivational Speaker I believe in healing,” said Pastor Graves. “And, the first step in healing is that we are protected from anything or anyone that means to do us harm.”

Pastor Graves attended North Carolina Central University, Philadelphia Biblical University, The Center for Urban Theological Studies, and Covington Theological Seminary. In 2003, he was ordained by the Bethany Baptist Association and in 2005, he obeyed the voice of the Lord and planted Cornerstone Community Church. In 2011, he retired as a Sergeant of Police after 20 years of dedicated service to the State of NJ. Pastor Graves is married to his high school sweetheart and best friend Christine Graves for twenty-five years. He and Christine together have three children and three grandchildren.

“I think between Pastor Graves’ ministry and his prior law enforcement experience, that he is uniquely positioned to speak to our religious institutions about the dangers of domestic violence. I am delighted he agreed to participate in this very important project,” said Mr. Dana.
